Sometimes I think of where it is I’ve come from
And the things I’ve left behind
But of all I’ve had, what I possessed
Nothing can quite compare
With what’s in front of meToday

Bright orange friend

This little guy came to visit on our last camping trip. He just seemed to appear on the arm of my chair. Have you ever seen such an awesome looking thing?? My mom tried to look on the net to see exactly what he was, but couldn't find anything that looked like him. We've ruled out slug and caterpillar. He might be a moth before his transformation...? Any ideas?? I've got lots more pictures....we were fascinated! Those big black spots were NOT his eyes! He had tiny eyes on the front of his head. I guess it is a marking to make him look bigger and scarier!
The law of the diminishing birthdays
Wednesday, August 29, 2007
So, yesterday was my birthday...I am now 25 (that's a 1/4 of a century as my dad likes to keep pointing out!) I can now say with authority that with each passing year, your birthday becomes less significant. I mean, since about 18, they've all kind of run together. Less presents, less excitement, less cards in the mail. One day, you wake up and realize another side effect of being an adult - no one is really all that concerned that it's your birthday. (I think that was yesterday) Now, I'm not saying this to complain at all. I don't really want lots of excitement anyway, it's just something I've been noticing as I get older.
That being said, I did have a nice day. My dad took me to lunch at Chili's where I ate one of my most favorite foods, chips and salsa. Then, there was dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Of course, I am still so full I will not need to eat for at least 4-7 days. But, it was a yummy-licious day completely void of birthday cake, which I loathe.

Ode to camping....

Okay, so last weekend was spent once again in Harvey the RV. I love him. If he was a man, I would marry him. Okay, maybe not, but you get the picture. I spent the entire weekend relaxing and sewing and reading and sitting by the campfire. And the best part is, I didn't have to sleep in a tent or go potty in an outhouse!! (That's why I love Harvey the RV) And, I found this really cool bug, which I will post pictures of later, once I get them on the computer. There were cheeseburgers cooked on the fire, and s'mores, no chores to do, and a long walk in the woods....RVing is pure bliss. :)
